Direct trade

The structure of the existing world trade is a central reason for poverty and hunger in developing countries. Fairdirect e.V. offers a novel structure of absolute direct trade without any intermediary trade between small farmers and end customers over long distances.

With the example of our pilot project we prove that such a direct trade without any intermediary trade works in reality, guarantees best sales prices for these producers and fair purchase prices for customers. We have deliberately chosen Hansapur/Nepal as a region with the most unfavorable conditions. The region can only be reached after a walk of several hours, and transport to Germany is only possible by air. With these unfavorable conditions, these small farmers achieve at a sale “free Germany” min. just under 57% of the sales price achieved here as direct proceeds. Since the transport price decreases with increasing quantity per KG, the proceeds can rise to over 70%. In countries with a connection to e.g. a seaport, even more than 90% are realistic.

Fairdirect e.V. offers consulting around the topic of direct trade for companies, church communities and community catering, establishes direct contact to small farmers from different regions with different products and offers the complete infrastructure for the implementation / processing.
